Vested
Today, I became vested at my job! Happy 5 years to me! And in true government fashion, I had to bake my own treats and take them to work for the celebration because there's no room in the budget for such frivolity. Despite the "bring-your-own-cake" policy, the benefits are pretty good. And thus, I'm now vested.

I know how you feel. I taught for only 7 years before becoming a full-time mom. But I am so glad I was "vested" after 5 years. Now, I will receive a retirement someday, even if only a small amount. :-)
